Frequently Asked Questions

How long can I expect to come to therapy? How many sessions will I need?

This depends! I often recommend folks start with weekly sessions for the first 2-4 appointments. This allows us to build momentum as well as rapport, establish skills, and hopefully for you to feel better, sooner. Following that, I welcome conversation around your personal therapeutic needs, based on your symptoms, diagnosis, and goals.

The first 1-2 sessions are called an intake and often take 60 minutes. After that, most sessions are 40-60 minutes, depending on individual needs.

Do you accept insurance?

I'm in-network for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and Optum (including United Healthcare). If you have one of these insurers, please call the phone number on your insurance card before our first appointment and confirm that I am indeed an in-network provider for your plan. If you have a different plan or wish to self-pay, I'm considered out-of-network. This means that I'll charge the full session fee on the day of your appointment and I can offer you documentation that you can submit to your insurance company if you're eligible for reimbursement.

Do you see clients in person or via telehealth?

Currently, I meet with clients both in person and via telehealth. I use a HIPAA-compliant plan through Zoom video software that ensures secure and confidential telehealth sessions.

What if I cancel, miss, or need to reschedule an appointment?

I kindly request 48-hours notice if you're not able to attend a scheduled appointment. Since canceled or missed sessions are not reimbursed by insurance and I cannot easily fill a slot on such short notice, I will charge $200 for the missed/canceled session. I may make exceptions for unexpected illness or other rare emergencies  and circumstances, such as caring for a sick family member.
